State forces have killed a separatist warlord named ‘General Trouble’ in Ndop, capital of Ngoketunjia Division in Cameroon’s North-West Region.

Open sources say the separatist strongman was ‘collecting taxes’ at the Bamunka-Ndop Central Market Square in the morning of Sunday, October 24, 2021, when he was gunned down by soldiers.

Pseudo General Trouble has been a thorn in the flesh of inhabitants of Ndop. His killing sent the population into celebration.

“We are now free from General Trouble’s troubles. He had been terrorizing us for a long time now. To sell in the market, one had to pay money to him and his boys,” said a resident of Ndop.

When soldiers arrived at the scene, the militiamen on a ‘tax collection’ mission opened fire, forcing the state forces to respond, we learned.

In a shootout that followed, notorious General Trouble and one of his aides were killed. A civilian, Carine, was also killed in the crossfire, reports said.

Pseudo-General Trouble was said to be specialized in kidnapping for ransom, extortions, usurpation of traditional functions among other atrocities.

“He has been terrorizing market women and collecting money from them. He has been responsible for the numerous kidnaps in Ndop and was responsible for the killing of one Mr. Makew Cyprian, Head Master of Government School, GS, Bukew- Bamunka. His death has been greeted with a lot of jubilation by the community,” a resident told The Guardian Post.

“General’ Trouble of Bamunka Ndop, was neutralized with one of his ‘Lieutenants’ as they harassed the population in Ndop Central market,” another source added.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued yesterday, the military said it had on October 21 neutralized 20 separatist fighters in Akeh, a small neighboring community to Fundong in Boyo division of the North West region.

The soldiers had reportedly stormed Akeh village in search of the dreaded ‘General’ No Pity, who has been operating across Ngoketunjia, Bui, Mezam, and Boyo divisions.

While the 20 Amba fighters were killed during the raid, ‘General’ No Pity, the statement said, sustained injuries before taking to his heels, leaving behind his weapons.

In the statement circulated on the Ministry of Defence’s official Facebook page, Honneur et Fidélité-Armée Camerounaise, it was disclosed that several other separatist fighters had sustained injuries during the Boyo raid. They are reported to be on the run.

Following the raid, the military, according to the same statement, seized four heavy machine guns, pkm type, eight automatic light fal guns, three light machine guns, Famous type, four kalach AK 47, two automatic guns, Browning type, two handmade guns, two craft weapons, two Cal 12 shotguns, and two anti-char rockets. Twelve charger boxes and over 100 ammunition of various calibres were also seized, the statement said.

A fortnight ago, soldiers are reported to have also wreaked havoc in the locality of Noni, Bui division of the North West region in search of the dreaded Amba ‘General’, No Pity.

At least four houses were allegedly set ablaze by soldiers in Noni who raided the area in search of the self-styled Ambazonia ‘General’ No Pity.

Soldiers had stormed the village at night, following a tip-off that ‘General’ No Pity had taken residence in the area.

During the raid, a gun battle ensued between security forces and Ambazonia fighters in Noni, resulting in the death of three separatist fighters.
