Though JS kabylie lost to Tonnerre Yaounde 1-0 in the return leg final of the Caf Cup, they however lifted the trophy thanks to their great 4-0 win the away leg final.
In Yaounde, the Algerians had little work to do. They let Tonnerre labour and get confused by too much pressure, most of it coming from the fans. The fans were given to believe in a miracle after Tonnerre's early opener at the 11th minute. Jean Eyoum pushed in Hans Agbo's corner kick after a poor clearance by Kabylie's defense. That was certainly the best moment for the game for the 25.000 fans led by Prime Minister Peter Monsonge. The fans tried to push their side, but the players could not respond. As the minutes ebbed away, Tonnerre became more confused. It was good for the Algerians as they started coming out into Tonnerre zone. Strikers Amaouche and Berguigua narrowly missed target twice before the half. That was was after Tonnerre's Roberts Sesay, Jean Etougou and Agbo had thrown away more than seven clear chances. Tonnerre entered their worst state after resumption. The urge to score the needed goal pushed them into many errors. The crowd booed and the players got more confused. While JS Kabylie took it easy. Tonnerre resorted to long balls which were either easily harvested by the tall goalkeeper Lounes Gaouaoui or headed out by defence supervisor Samir Djouder. Fans started quitting the stadium as it became evident that Tonnerre will not improve on their lot. And Prime Minister Peter Musonge handed the trophy to the Algerians who took it for keeps, being their third win. Tonnerre's National trainer, Martin Ntougou said they lost the cup since the first leg final after the heavy 4-0 defeat. "Today, it was hard for us to over come that handicap. The pressure was too much for the players, some of who were injured". Kabylie's coach, Jean Yves Chay said they won because of the confident play style. Meantime, the game was marked by an incident. Play was suspension for 21 minutes after the second assistant referee, Oueslati Taoufik got wounded on the head by a stone thrown by a fan. Taoufik recovered and continued the game.
