He was enthroned by kingmakers and his peers during a traditionally charged ceremony at his Tiko residence that was followed by an official installation by the Divisional Officer for Tiko Subdivision, Anuafor Cletus Asongwe.
In his installation address, the representative of the Head of State in Tiko Subdivision called on the new Chief of Ebonji village to prioritise and development and security of the village.
Chief Moukondo was praised for his development strides as Mayor of Tiko and was urged to transfer same spirit to his village which is relatively lacking in the very basics of development.
On behalf of the chiefs, the President of the Fako Chiefs’ Conference, Chief Ndike Richard welcomed Chief Moukondo into the fold of royalty in the division.
Chief Moukondo had been functioning as traditional ruler of Ebonji village since 2014 when he was approved as Chief of the village following the death of the former Chief.
Moukondo became Mayor of Tiko on October 16, 2013 after the municipal elections of September 30, 2013. He was elected on the ticket of the opposition Social Democratic Front, SDF party. He apparently fell out of favour with the local leadership of the party in the build up to the February 9, 2020 municipal elections. The SDF District Chair refused to include his name on the list of candidates who will be running for the Municipal elections on the SDF ticket in Tiko.
Moukondo however believes that given the achievements his Council has registered for the past six years, another SDF victory is possible come February 9, 2020. The people of Tiko are all agreed that Tiko, under Moukondo, departed from a history of underdevelopment and administrative nonchalance to a new era of administrative concern from the municipal authorities.
Moukondo may well occupy himself with palace business after the imminent polls. It is not known if he will leave the SDF.
