The evolved method of tarring the road as a whole keeps living many in astonishment, as they had never seen such machines and work, done before in any part of the region.
It is an innovative and advanced technology, used by group Razel engineers carrying out road works within the city of Bafoussam, within the context of the city’s hosting of some football games of the African Nations Cup (AFCON). The project is part of the French debt-relief program, C2D, which was launched in 2018 in Bafoussam, to see into the restructuring and reconstruction of some major roads linking hotels, hospitals and the football pitches to be used.
Bafoussam, Garoua and Bertoua, are amongst three regions, currently benefitting from this program. The population of Bafoussam have expressed satisfaction over the works done so far, with some stating its unlike the usual bitumen used on roads.
"I am pleased to see this advanced work. As you can see our axis is part of the first axes realized within the framework of these projects ", expressed Bernard Ngompe, inhabitant of Bafoussam, who salutes at the same time the innovating technology. Like Bernard Ngompe, the inhabitants of concerned neighborhoods have been watching the works curiously and attentively.
Similar works are taking place around the Bamendzi, where the municipal stadium is located, another around the city’s roundabout, amongst others.
Following the details of the project, the first phase constituted of constructing about 5.7 km of road to serve the main sites of AFCON , and also involves drainage and rehabilitation.
The second part of the work scheduled to be delivered within a contractual period of 30 months, would complete this linear to 23.7 km. The global financing of FCFA 23.9 billion, will cut across basic urban needs such as water points and power plant project for Bafoussam.
