The Foundation Stone for the National Secretariat of the Catholic Men Association (CMA) Cameroon has been laid in Molyko, Buea. This was during a solemn ceremony April 26, 2019 presided at by the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Immanuel Balanjo Bushu.

The circa FCFA 300 million worth edifice expected to be completed within three years was christened  “St Joseph’s Centre” by Bishop Bushu. The naming, the prelate said, is in honour of St Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus Christ.

The Bishop of Buea, who had so generously offered the 2,000 metres square piece of land to host the secretariat, dedicated the project into God's hands. To him, there can be no foundation solid enough unless it is laid in the name of Jesus Christ.

“We are God’s people and we cannot but call on God to be with us and to help us build and take care of this house using it for the right purpose or which it is built. We must be aware of God’s presence in this place,” he said

He added that: “Let us all grow and be holy like Jesus Christ himself. The building we want to construct will be a gate of heaven because it is here that the CMA and the spiritual progress of its members will be crafted out and promoted.”

On his part,  the National President of the CMA,  Okie Johnson Ndoh expressed thanks and appreciation to all who have made contributions towards the success of the project.

"I am overwhelmed and filled with tears of joy. It was like a dream when we came up with this project barely a year ago. And for us to be where we are today, it’s just by the grace of God,” Okie said.

He announced that part of the FCFA 300 million earmarked for the project has already been collected and each diocese has been given a levy. “So far part of the money has been collected from the Diocese of Yaoundé and we believe that if the others play their roles well, in less than no time, we shall be done and dusted with the entire project.”

The CMA National Secretariat will be used among others for the coordination of the affairs of the association, upliftment of the spiritual life of the community and serve as a focal point for evangelism.

Lodging facilities and space for the organisation of seminars,  workshops, conferences and wedding receptions among other facilities will be part of the CMA project.

The CMA National President assured the public that the sociopolitical situation in the country's North West and South West regions will in no way stall the project.

He recalled CMA's contributions towards a return to normalcy,  citing among others a 9-day Novena for Peace and donations to the needy.

On behalf of the Bishops of the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kumba, His Lordship Agapitus Enuyehnyoh Nfon assured the CMA members of the full support and prayers from the BAPEC Bishops in order to see to the realisation of the project.

“This secretariat will be open to touch the lives of many people. When you come here you’ll meet Christ and hear about St. Joseph who is a man of honour and we therefore expect that all Catholic men in Cameroon will be real examples of honour wherever they find themselves. Wherever you are, represent the Christ you carry. As Catholic men, your faith should also help in the decision making process in finding lasting solutions to the crisis plaguing the South West and North West Regions of the country. Play the role of St Joseph who protected the families of Nazareth. Remain United, no competition, see Christ in Your faces, do your best in the group and St. Joseph man of honour will intercede for you,” Monsignor Nfon said.
