Dr. Kingsley Che Soh, North West Regional Delegate of Public Health says some health personnel working in the region are hesitant to receive the SINOPHARM Vaccine against COVID-19.

On April 19, 2021, the Regional Delegate addressed a letter to the Director of Regional Hospital Bamenda, All District Medical Officers in the North West, All Heads of COVID-19 Vaccination Centers, and All Heads of Health Facilities urging them to counsel their staff on the need to be vaccinated.

Dr. Che Soh says the infection rate of COVID-19 among health personnel in the North West Region keeps increasing, the reason why health personnel should be vaccinated.

“I have been reliably informed that some health personnel working in your institution are hesitant to get vaccinated with the SINOPHARM Vaccine against COVID-19, despite the fact that the infection rate of COVID-19 among health personnel in the Region keeps increasing,” said Dr. Che Soh.

He called on the Director of Regional Hospital Bamenda, All District Medical Officers in the North West, All Heads of COVID-19 Vaccination Centers, and All Heads of Health Facilities “to organize Group counseling sessions with health personnel, so as to get their informed consent for this exercise to enable them immediately receive their first dose of the vaccine. ”

The North West Regional Delegate of Public Health furthered: “Health personnel who are working in health facilities which are not vaccination centers should go to the accredited vaccination centers and receive their COVID-19 vaccine.

“Treat this with utmost importance, and do contact the Regional Delegate directly for any further information.”

The North West Regional Delegate of Public Health says on April 18, the region received 23,500 doses of COVISHIELD Vaccine which is another effective and safe vaccine against COVID-19.

"With this consignment of vaccine, we are starting the second phase of the campaign in all 20 health districts in the region within the next couple of days. This second phase will target all persons above 50 years of age, those with other chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and Asthma, as well as other vulnerable groups like security forces and teachers, "said Dr. Che Soh.
