The Embassy in a press release issued today said it remained a neutral observer of the dialogue and wasn't backing any one, but said they were ready to intervene only if both sides agreed to it.
"The United States is a neutral observer of the process and while we have offered to play a role identifying an eventual solution, we would need to be asked by both sides before taking on this role", the statement read.
Some separatists last week, posted pictures of retired Senior U.S Department official, Herman Cohen, stating he had agreed to represent the virtual 'Republic of Ambazonia' at the dialogue. However the US Embassy called it a rumour.

" Retired Senior U.S State Department official, Herman Cohen today denied a rumor that he had accepted to become the spokesman of Ambazonia, and stated that he would not be able to participate in these negociations", it continued.
The Embassy reiterated its commitment and partnership to the nation Cameroon and expressed hopes for the country to once more live in peace.
It calls on all involved in the conflict that has led to over 3000 deads, as reported by the International Crisis Group, to restrain from violence and work towards an open-ended dialogue without preconditions.
Posted on his news site, separatist leader Eric Tataw said "Ambassador Cohen last Thursday September 19, 2019 accepted the offer from the Ambazonian leaders and activists in his Washington", he said quoting an announcement from detained Ambazonia activist, Sisiku Ayuk Tabe.
“The Interim Government of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia, under the able leadership of Sisiku Julius AyukTabe, is pleased to announce that Ambassador Herman Jay Cohen has accepted our commission to be the voice of Ambazonia in the community of nations", Eric quoted Sisiku Ayuk again.
