Jean de Dieu Momo, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals has pulled another stunt, stating on a live TV show that he now has and enjoys state power since joining government.

In an interview over Equinoxe TV over the weekend, the Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valour and National President of the opposition PADDEC (Patriotes Democrates pour le Developpement du Cameroun) said it only took him a phone call to resolve Longue Longue’s passport issues.

Minister Momo gave back the passport of Simon Longkana aka Longue Longue Sunday afternoon during a political rally in Douala after it had been confiscated for close to a year by authorities.

Longue Longue’s passport was reportedly seized last April 2019 following unofficial claims that he had insulted the President of the Republic and undermined territorial integrity by stating that Maurice Kamto had won the 2018 Presidential elections.

Since then, Longue Longue publicly went on bended knees, cap in hand, asking for forgiveness and pleading for his passport to be handed back to him so he could meet up with his professional engagements to no avail.

Minister Momo said he could return Longue Longue’s passport because of his position as member of government. Asked to explain what has changed about his life in two seconds, Minister Momo said the following:

“What has changed in two seconds is that: I now have a driver, a bodyguard and a red carpet rolled out for me. That is to say I have the tools of the state. What I could not do by earning FCFA 100 million as a lawyer, I can do it earning FCFA 900,000 as Minister.

“Just with a phone call, I could solve the problem of Longue Longue. His passport problem was resolved with a mere phone call. That is not something I could do before.

“I give you just one example. That is to say, if there is nothing else behind the case, if it is just an issue of a passport, I just have to make a phone call.

“I am the state. And when you are the state, you represent the state. You have the power to change lives. With just a phone call and I can give a job to somebody.  It must not always be in the public service. Even in the private sector, it is possible. This is just to tell you that I have power. I am power and I am in power.”
