Except for a last minute change that is most likely, the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council, Motanga Andrew Monjimba is expected at the Special Criminal Court in Yaoundé Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Along with some of his collaborators, Motanga has been summoned to shed light on a recent report of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, CONAC, indicting the management of the Limbe City Council of financial irregularities that caused the state losses to the tune of FCFA 9 billion.

Cameroon-info.net recalls that CONAC in its 2018 corruption report indicted the Limbe City Council, LCC, for irregularities that caused the state an overall financial loss estimated at over FCFA 9 billion.

The executive summary of the voluminous CONAC report was presented to the public in Yaoundé Thursday December 19, 2019 by CONAC Chairman Rev. Dr. Dieudonne Massi Gams.

According to the 2018 CONAC report, 24 investigative missions exposed numerous irregularities that have caused the state an overall financial losses estimated at CFA 9 billion 425 million 314 thousand 946 francs.

Of the above amount, CONAC reports that CFA 9 billion 240 million 829 thousand 996 francs was lost at the Limbe City Council, LCC, as uncovered by an investigative mission that visited the institution. It adds that FCFA 180 million was lost at the Nkometou Tollgate Post, 14 million 849 thousand  850 francs at the Bafia District Hospital and FCFA 3 million at the Parent Teachers Association of Government High School Obala.

Sources suggest that the former Secretary General of the Limbe City Council, Charles Arrey Nkongho, who is now in Kumba in a similar capacity, had already been heard along with the municipal treasurer of the LCC.

Motanga was to be heard on January 21, 2020 but the appointment was moved to February 5, 2020. There are indications that the audience could further be postponed given that Motanga is involved in campaigns ahead of the February 9, 2020 municipal and legislative elections. He is heading the CPDM council list in Limbe I where he is also Section President.

Motanga is tipped to become the pioneer City Mayor of the Limbe City Council after serving as Pioneer Government Delegate of the same institution following his appointment in 2009. He is credited with transforming Limbe into a veritable development hub as well as celebrating the cultures of the world through the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture, Limbe FESTAC.
