Hon. Ngala Gerard Ndombang, Member of Parliament for Donga Mantung Centre has presented a report of school resumption in his constituency, as well as in Donga Mantung Division in general, during an audience at the Prime Minister’s Office Friday.

Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard said during the audience at the Star Building, he briefed the Prime Minister, Head of Government Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute on back-to-school 2020/2021 in Donga Mantung Division.

Despite the Monday ghost town calls by armed separatists in the restive North West and South West Regions, the Member of Parliament for the Nation said pupils and students in Donga Mantung turned out massively on Monday, October 5, 2020, as schools resumed nationwide for the 2020/2021 academic year.

“I could see the Prime Minister fully overwhelmed by the successful, massive and historic back to school in Nkambe and Donga Mantung in general, on Monday, October 5, 2020, despite ghost towns imposed on the population by separatist fighters,” Ngala said shortly after the audience.

He said the PM was “particularly impressed by the readiness of parents across the North West Region to send their kids back to school.”

“Donga Mantung has set a good example for the North West and South West regions. A success story!” The MP tweeted on Friday evening.

Prior to school resumption, Hon. Ngala was treated to a hilarious welcome in Nkambe on October 3, 2020. He joined the people to distance themselves from anti-regime protests while renewing their unfettered support for President Paul Biya and the institutions that he incarnates.

Thousands of pupils and students from no fewer than 19 schools and colleges in Nkambe Central subdivision received didactic materials from Hon. Ngala including school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils, and rulers, as well as face masks and hand sanitizers as part of COVID-19 stifling measures. Administrative and teaching staff were also given special packages.

Together with the Mayor of Nkambe, Musa Shey Nfor, and other community leaders, Hon. Ngala supervised the cleaning of schools.

On Monday, Donga Mantung Senior Divisional Officer, Simon Nkwenti Ndoh and Fon Jabo Nfor Ibrahim of Nkambe joined Hon. Ngala and Mayor Musa Shey Nfor to assess the attendance of pupils in lay private as well as public schools. They were marveled by the number of students at Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Nkambe.

Two blocks of five classrooms and a headmaster’s office at G.S. Bondu, constructed by Hon. Ngala Gerard, have now been completed and put at the disposal of learners.
