In a statement signed February 15, 2021, on behalf of the Lebialem people, Paul Tasong, who is Minister Delegate in charge of Planning at Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, said they will do all to banish Ambazonia fighters from the division.
The son of Lebialem revealed that notorious separatist fighter Oliver Lekeaka alias Field Marshal killed Chiefs Fualasoeh Peter, Formin Benedict, and Simon Forzi on the night of February 13, 2021.
Tasong writes: “In the night of 13 February 2021, a group of terrorists, led by Lekeaka Oliver a.k.a ‘field marshal’, acting under the instructions of his senior brother Christopher Anu who lives in the USA, invaded Essoh-Atah village in Lebialem Division. They targeted traditional chiefs, woke them up from sleep, took them to the market square at about midnight, shot three of them dead, and dropped their lifeless bodies in a nearby river.
“In the morning of Sunday 14 February 2021, citizens of the village pulled out their lifeless bodies in the hope of organizing dignifying burials.
“Their crimes were that they had refused to hand over the proceeds from the sales of cocoa for the 2020-2021 season and were encouraging other villagers not to succumb to pressure from the gang. Also, they were accused of organizing schools in the village as one of them was a school Headmaster.
“In the face of this barbaric situation, all the people of Lebialem Division resident in Yaounde and their friends shall on Tuesday 16 February from 3 pm organize a public manifestation at the esplanade of the National Museum to denounce this heinous and odious act.
“The peace-loving people of Lebialem, who are the moderate silent majority, are hereby called upon to remain extremely vigilant and to reinforce cooperation and collaboration with the defence and security forces to dig out these wicked people who have taken part of their division hostage.”
