Thick crowds of pupils and students of nursery, primary and secondary schools in Nkambe have been receiving lectures this morning September 2, 2019 for the start of the academic year 2019/2020.
The students, parents, education stakeholders and the administration in the town did not heed to threats of attacks from separatist fighters.
At Government Bilingual High School Nkambe, Government Technical High School Nkambe and several other private and public schools around the town, students and pupils are in class while others are cleaning the school environment.
Some school officials have opted not to focus on the issue of registration or payment of fees as a means to encourage kids to go to school.
The school resumption in Nkambe was streamed live on the Facebook page of Ngala Gerard. The political leader of Nkambe was personally on the field to encourage the education family in the subdivision.
Ngala Gerard: the go-getter
Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Secretary of State to the Minister of Mines, Industries and Technological Development had in an interview broadcast Sunday, August 25, 2019 over CRTV's news magazine programme, Cameroon Calling. singled out Ngala Gerard for his praise-worthy act of championing peace efforts in Donga Mantung Division.
The native of Misaje said last year, some schools in Nkambe (Ngala Gerard's fief) and Misaje were functional thanks to the joint effort of the elite.
"This time around, we want to increase the number of schools going on in Nkambe and Misaje subdivisions. We also want to make sure that schools are operating in Ako, Ndu and Nwa subdivisions," Fuh said.
Quizzed on how they as elites have been collaborating to ensure that schools effectively resume despite their rivalry, Fuh Calistus said:
"I must say that in my division, if we are where we are today, it's because most elite are concerned. They are putting a joint effort. All elites are doing their own in the background. Everybody is working because it is not a situation that makes everybody proud.
"I want to commend especially the elite in my Division because everybody is doing his own in his own special way to make sure that we get over this situation.
"You have all been seeing the personal engagement Mr. Ngala Gerard, CPDM Section President for Donga Mantung I has taken."
Cameroon-info.net recalls that a thick crowd turned out at the Nkambe ceremonial ground to celebrate the 47th edition of Cameroon's National Day on Monday, May 20, 2019 thanks to the rallying charisma of Ngala Gerard.
The turnout, as usual, was massive. At least 5,000 people braved the threats from armed men fighting for the restoration of a country they call Ambazonia to stage a memorable May 20 parade in Nkambe.
From Tabenken, Binka, Binju, Kungi and Binshua, Cameroonians in Nkambe vowed they must be part of the big event, a milestone in the country's path to emergence in a bid to reaffirm their attachment to the values of peace, national unity and a united and indivisible Cameroon as incarnated by the Head of state, H.E President Paul Biya.
Detractors often said the images from Nkambe at past CPDM and other public celebrations were cooked up. On May 20, 2019, the Donga Mantung I CPDM Section President decided to up the game by streaming the event live on Facebook. The live stream recorded 76, 161 comments and views.
This may well be a clear testament of the love and attachment people have for Nkambe and its charismatic and dynamic CPDM Section President, Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard.
The May 20, 2019 parade once more crystallizes the fact that the “Nkambe Man” is a lover of peace, respecter of state institutions and those who incarnate them. “No matter the differences that a house may have, violence can never be the solution. And here in Donga Mantung 1-Nkambe we long understood that fact. That is why you would see that our people are coherent, steadfast and committed to preserving the unicity of our great nation,” Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard said.
The high point of the parade was the CPDM march pass. In their thousands bearing placards with diverse messages of peace and national integration, the CPDM diehards left the attendees spellbound as they clapped unendingly.
He said “mobilization is continuous so let’s stay vigilant and collaborate with the administrative authorities as well as with our security and defense forces. Feel free to denounce any suspicious person around your vicinity. The need and importance of education cannot be over emphasized, so please ensure your children sit for their end of course examinations.”
Quoting the Prime Minister, Head of Government Chief Dr Dion Ngute Joseph during his visit to Bamenda last May, Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard said “the President of the Republic is ready to welcome all our sons and daughters who are in the bush and reinsert them into the society freely. Please extend this message of goodwill and peace to them so they can drop their weapons and return to the waiting arms of the Father of the Nation for peace to return to our two Anglophone regions.”
