Muslim Scholar and activist, Abdul Karim Alim is facing charges of secession and terrorism, as confirms one of the lawyers defending him.

Barrister Ndong Christopher and two others who visited him at the national gendarmerie headquarters, SED, on Sunday September 30, say they met the activist who revealed he had been wrongly accused by those keeping him in custody.

According to Barrister Ndong, Abdul Karim narrated how he had been invited by the Swiss government and a Swiss NGo, where he respected the invitation and also realised Ambazonia activists such as Boh Herbert, Ebenezer Akwanga and Sako Ikome were part of the said meeting.

To him, pictures he had taken with the aforementioned persons and a CD on the Anglophone Crisis that was handed over to him by the Ambazonia activists, must have triggered his arrest.

He was arrested few minutes after leaving the Swiss embassy in Yaounde by gendarmes dressed in social outfits, where he says he was just from reporting to the Ambasssador what transpired in Switzerland during his trip.

" He was taken to SED and questioned on his trip to Switzerland. That's his crime and charges against him ranges from Accessory to terrorism, secession, and apology to terrorism."

Abdul Karim is said to be on a semi-hunger strike, as he has taken only water since he was arrested on the 24th of September.

During the last TV interview he had over Equinox, a Douala-based television, Abdul Karim lambasted the organisation of the Major National Dialogue where he said everything about it had no good intentions and would yield no fruits.

The Director of Peace Research Center (PRC) based in Bamenda, has been released few hours after being arrested and locked-up at the Bamenda Judicial Police.

This is the second time Abdul Karim has been arrested by government forces, this year. Late January 2019, he was arrested in Old Town Bamenda, shortly after performing his evening prayers. He was however released few minutes later by the Judicial police.
