TANJOH Fridrick TETUH, Mayor of Batibo Batibo Council
Tanjoh Fridrick Tetuh, Mayor of the opposition run Batibo Council says he is not part of any appeal for the re-insertion of the party’s list after it was rejected by Elections Cameroon, ELECAM.

The diehard member of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, party in a letter dated December 16, 2019 says his decision comes after “profound reflection” and following the burning of the Batibo residence of National Assembly Vice President Hon. Joseph Njang Mbah Ndam by gunmen Sunday night.

The SDF list for the February 9, 2019 municipal elections had been rejected, but the party had put up an appeal.  Tanjoh informs the national and international public opinion that he has decided to resign from any position in the list and as such is not part of any appeal.

His words: “After a profound reflection on my vision as a leader and considering what human life is, I have decided to resign my position in the list of the SDF for the February 2020 Municipal elections and declare that I am not part of any appeal for the reinsertion of the SDF list by the Administrative Court/ELECAM.”

Apparently responding to the anti-election campaigns by armed separatists and their ilk, Tanjoh asks where values have gone to given that kidnapping for ransom, arson and killings are now being celebrated.

In what may be an emotional outburst, Tanjoh  writes: “When I see celebrations of joy even by close ones instead of pity over kidnap, demand for ransom and even disasters like that of the fire incident in the compound of Rt. Hon. Joseph Mbah Ndam, I am forced to ask where our values have gone to. In addition, I ask myself why all these firebrands who have been fighting for a better Anglophone course and are now being abducted here and there and those of us on permanent threatening list have become ‘big enablers’ now because of orientations of vision for the solution of the stalemate.

In the letter titled “letter of resignation from February 2020 council list”, Tanjoh Fridrick Tetuh says he has been a frontline militant of the SDF since his student days in the University of Yaoundé from 1990 to 1991, ENS Annex Bambili from 1991 to 1994, militant and activist in Mbiame from 1994 to 1998, Bafut from 1998 to 2007 and leader in Guzang from 2007 till date.

“My militancy and activism propelled me to different political and administrative duties, becoming Mayor of the Batibo Council in 2013 despite the so many political machinations and witch-hunting,” Tanjoh said, thanking his electorate, Hon. Mbah Ndam and Chairman Ni John Fru Ndi for the opportunity they gave him to serve.

Born on May 25, 1968 in Guzang, Tanjoh Fridrick Tetuh obtained a DIPES I in Physics in 1993 and later attended the University of Dschang in 2000. He equally holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the Rome Business College.

He began his political career in ENSAB Bambili in 1990 till he became the organizing secretary of Koken Ward Guzang from 2006 to 2008. He was voted Councillor of the Batibo Council in 2007 and was re-elected in 2013. He currently holds the position of SDF Electoral District Secretary for Batibo since his election in 2008.

Tanjoh Fridrick Tetuh became 1st Deputy Mayor of the Batibo Council in 2007 and was interim mayor from October 2012 to May 2013.  In October 2013, he became Mayor of Batibo. His mandate ends in February 2020.

He is an elder and chairman of PC Guzang. He is married to Tanjoh née Mba Clodia and is father of five.
