The incident which occurred on Sunday January 5, was only pronounced this day, as many see it as an attempt to disrupt upcoming municipal and legislative elections.
Reports say he was kidnapped under the instructions of an armed separatists locally called "General Man Pass Man of Babessi Restoration Forces".
This is not the first time the mayor and other councillors of the municipality have been kidnapped. In a recent kidnapping, he was tortured by his abductors.
Despite attempts to stop his kidnappers from taking him in Mambim, suspected armed forces took him and further sources say he is still in captivity.
One of the elites of Babessi, Momoh Dero said all attempts to reach him are futile.
" When I learned of his kidnap, I tried reaching out to him on phone to no avail..For now, the community has turned to God for his release", said the elite.
This incident comes at a time when neighbouring villages in Ngoketunjia subdivision are rising against what they termed excesses of armed separatists.
Mayor Choh is from the ruling Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM) party, and some members of his community have been expressing worry about his current predicament. In some cases, hopes are high that he will be returned safely to his family, following previous attempts.
